| Boswellia Serrata |
Hailed for over 2500 years in Ayurvedic medicine in India, Boswellia is still seen as the most potent phytomedicinal for arthritis and rheumatism, demonstrating very effective antiinflammatory and antiarthritic results. Boswellia acts similar to nonsteroidal groups of antiarthritic drugs with the added advantage of its being free from side effects. The tree exudes a gummy oleoresin which can be tapped by scrapping away a little of the bark. The resinous extract from this bark has shown itself in a number of studies to be more beneficial than Ketoprofen (benzyl hydrotropic acid), indomethacin, phenylbutazone or aspirin against rheumatic disease. |
| Gamma Linolenic Acid |
Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA) is an essential fatty acid, Omega--6, is a component of the cell membrane that increases permeability and flexibility of cell membranes and helps regulate water loss, thus helping to prevent dehydration and other visible signs of premature aging. It is also involved with the entire cardiovascular and endocrine system balance. Also essential in the production of eicosanoids throughout the body |
| Perna Canaliculous |
From the pure waters and untouched reefs of Australia and New Zealand grows this particular crustacean, a muscle which apparently grows nowhere else in the world. From its uniqueness is derived a material that has been thought useful in the nurturing of those complaining of joint discomfort or those lacking the necessary lubricant (that viscous fluid which provides lubrication for the joints) within the joints to make movement easy and comfortable. It is especially beneficial for those who commonly complain of joint discomfort when humidity is high or the temperature drops unexpectedly. We now know that this deep sea mollusk is naturally rich in the full spectrum of glycosaminoglycans and chondroitin sulfates, and therefore useful in the treatment of arthritis and rheumatism, as well as other joint problems and complications. Recall that synovial fluid is largely made up of glycosaminoglycans. See glycosaminoglycans |

| Shark Cartilage (100% Pure New Zealand Shark Carti |
Shark Cartilage has been found to contain a particular protein complex. Dr. Robert Langer of MIT, who in reporting in Science, Vol 235, Jan 1989, found that it "contains a substance that strongly inhibits the growth of new blood vessels towards solid tumors (called angiogenesis inhibition), thereby restricting growth." Further it has been reported by I. William Lane, Ph.D., in Therapeutic benefits of Shark Cartilage -- A Research Summary, Journal of the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association, November 1991-January 1992, vol 10, No.4., that "a protein in the cartilagineous skeleton of the shark has been shown to inhibit the ability of a tumor to generate blood vessels needed to feed it." It is rich in glycosaminoglycans (or mucopolysaccharides) and chondroitin sulfates. |

| Phenylalanine (L-Phenylalanine, DL-Phenylalanine, |
Phenylalanine, or L-Phenylalanine in its natural form, is an essential amino acid of tremendous nutritional importance, although often found low in the blood serum levels of vegetarians. It is a known nutritional precursor or forerunner of the neurotransmitters dopamine, norepinephrine (noradrenaline) and epinephrine (adrenaline) which latter substances control or affect heart rate and output, blood pressure, oxygen consumption, blood sugar levels, fat metabolism and other brain functions.Interestingly, "Phenylpropanolamine" (a substance which attempts to mirror some of the activities of phenylalanine) is a synthetic substance used to promote the release of CCK (cholescystokinin) in the stomach, a "satiation" hormone which naturally induces satiety, transmitting its chemical message to the brain, signaling the body that it should stop eating. Phenylalanine is reported to have similar attributes that may nutritionally decrease one's appetite naturally, having the same causes of the synthetic substance above.DL-Phenylalanine is also involved in the release of PEA, phenylethylamine, a neurotransmitter closely related to norepinephrine, and which can sensitize endorphin receptors to endorphins, and aids in the relief of depression and the regulation of mood. PEA, by itself, can increase the manufacturing of norepinephrine in the brain, a natural pick-me-up. Research has shown that most deprressed individuals have low levels of PEA, and that most antidepressant drugs raise PEA levels. The "D-" form of phenylalanine nutritionally inhibits the production of enzymes which defeat the naturally occurring "opiates" of the body, the endorphins and enkephalins, those naturally occurring "pain-relievers" that the body produces when faced with neurochemical messages of discomfort.More specifically, supplementation of the "D-" form of phenylalanine appears to lengthen the biochemical life of these naturally occurring substances by inhibiting enkephalinase, and endorphinases, the enzymes that breaks down our naturally occurring pain relievers, allowing the body to naturally "remove" itself from pain for longer periods of time. Interestingly, the body's natural pain relievers, the endorphins and enkephalins, are known to be some 400 times more powerful than morphine in their concentrated strength. The combined D- and L- forms of phenylalanine, known as DL-Phenylalanine, are used supplementally to simply complement the body's natural ability to relieve discomfort, while also ensuring that enough of the "L-" form has been supplied. Both D- and L- forms are naturally occurring in nature. |

| Chondroitin sulfates (Chondroitin) |
These are polysaccharides containing D-glucuronic acid and acetyl galactosamine. Their general structure is similar, but they differ in content and location of sulfate ester groups in the molecule. Chondroitin contains only a small number of sulfate ester groups whereas chondroitin sulfates have more. The latter have a high viscosity and a capability for binding water, and in connective tissue apparently performs similarly to that of hyaluronic acid (a glycosaminoglycan/mucopolysaccharide which is component of the ground substance of intercellular material, containing D-glucuronic acid and acetyl glucosamine). Chondroitin is a component of the cell coat, and chondroitin 4-sulfate is the principle organic component of the ground substance of cartilage and bone. If the chondroitins are not found abundantly, regeneration and healing of tissues is possibly undermined and delayed. Thus, its has proven nutritionally supportive and useful in any form of bone and cartilage reconstructive needs, such as arthritis, and complements other pre- and postsurgical strategies. |

| N-Acetyl Glucosamine |
N-Acetyl Glucosamine (NAG) is a form of glucosamine. It is a building block of joint tissue as well as other connective tissues |
| Glucosamine Sulfate |
Glucosamine Sulfate: Glucosamine is a component of almost all human tissues, including cartilage. Glucosamine sulfate has a relatively low molecular weight and is the sulfate salt of the natural aminomonosaccharide, glucosamine. It is known to provide pain relief and improved function in knee. |
| Harpagophytum procumbens (Pedaliaceae, Devil's Cla |
This is yet another herb found to be uniquely effective as an aid against the hurt of joint and muscle discomfort and associated conditions. It appears to cleanse the body and stimulate the body's natural defenses. It is also known for its purgative properties and is taken in Africa to treat poor health of all sorts, including some rather serious third world health conditions. In these countries, its pulverized powdered root is often applied to open wounds. Recent German clinical studies suggest that the plant in fact does have some rather remarkable properties, actually comparable by some to the antiarthritic prescription drug phenylbutazone. And too, the plant has been found in analysis to naturally produce an effective family of antiinflammatory agents, namely, harpagoside and harpagide; additionally, harpagoside alone exhibits analgesic activity. |
| Capsaicin |
This very effective herb and hot pepper is used to relieve pain when applied topically or when taken internally. It is thought to interrupt the pain signal through a process of reversible desensitization. Over 30 years of recent research has demonstrated that capsaicin, the biological active component of capsicum, appears to desensitize sensory receptors on cells, and thus effectively blocks pain signals from being processed. (Capsaicin in the Study of Pain, John Wood, Academic Press, Harcourt Brace, New York, 1993)But capsicum has other attributes. Used as a Homeopathic or used simply as a micro-nutritional (botanical). (Homeopathic potencies accredit their strength and efficacy to the electromagnetic signatures of the original substrate; these are scientifically created dilutions and succussions of medicines such that generally not even a molecule of the original substrate or medicine is present in the medicine). As a Homeopathic or used simply as a micro-nutritional, it has demonstrated effectiveness against the following symptomology: "The remedy is indicated where there is general enfeebled atonic conditions. The patient is fat, indolent, muscular fibers are relaxed, flabby and weakened." (Blackwood) -obesity (adiposis, corpulence) (Boericke). Also as a Homeopathic or used simply as a micro-nutritional, it has demonstrated effectiveness against the following digestive symptomology: "Is very useful in gastric hyperchlorhydria, chronic pyrosis; Dr. Cartier praises this remedy highly in hyperacidity..." (Dewey) -"A most useful remedy in atonic dyspepsia and flatulent colic; there is a sensation of burning referred to the stomach and the whole digestive system appears to be in an atonic condition." (Blackwood). |
| Reishi Mushroom (Reishi Mushroom Extract, Ganoderm |
Found to be an adaptogen, new research demonstrates the reishi mushroom is effective against chronic fatigue syndrome, restoring vitality and supports adrenal function. Reishi also contains phytomedicinals demonstrated to lower blood glucose levels in diabetics (B.K. Kim, College of Pharmacy, Seoul National University, Korea). It has also demonstrated help in regenerating the liver, and protects the liver against chemical damage while improving conditions of viral hepatitis. Reishi also has demonstrated effectiveness in lowering cholesterol and triglycerides, reduces coronary symptoms and high blood pressure. Lately, Japanese research indicates that it protects against cancer, being a powerful immune stimulating agent with particular effectiveness against wasting and degenerative diseases such as AIDS. As an adaptogen, it also has proven effective in reversing some of the side effects of chemotherapy, helping the body and especially the lymphatic system rid itself of poisonous toxins. Clinical studies have recently demonstrated that Reishi stimulates T-cell activity and inhibit some replication of the HIV virus. Reishi also seems to act as an antihistamine, relieving the allergic response, and is antiinflammatory in nature. |
| Cinnamomum verum (Cinnamon) |
The dried bark was used by the Egyptians in their embalming mixtures and was first listed by the Chinese in the Tang Materia Medica in 659 A.D. Cinnamon works to help calm down the stomach and also reduce milk flow. It has been useful, too, in helping stop uterine hemorrhaging and excessive menstrual flow. It's also been used for the discomforts and pain of menopause. Japanese researchers have shown that Cinnamon contains a substance that is both antifungal and antibacterial. It helps control the virulent actions of many microorganisms including the one which causes Botulism (a food poisoning which can be lethal) and S. Aureus, a source of staff infections. It acts strongly against the fungi that produces aflatoxin, a potent poison and carcinogen. It has obvious advantages in making apple pie taste better as well! |
| Manganese (manganese ascorbate, manganese asparta |
A mineral that assists utilization of B-1, biotin, Vitamin C, and Vitamin E. Also nutritionally aids in the proper functioning of the thyroid glands and nervous system. Other nutritional benefits of this mineral are that it energizes the body, helps memory and is needed for normal structural maintenance in the bones and tendons. Manganese is believed to be nutritionally important for the maintenance of healthy, strong hair. |
| Magnesium (magnesium ascorbate, magnesium gluconat |
A mineral that comes in many forms and abilities to assimilate. The presence of magnesium nutritionally helps metabolize calcium, Vitamin C and carbohydrates; nutritionally promotes healthy teeth, nerves and muscles; and energizes and fights against sadness, stress and unhappiness. Magnesium is excellent in nutritively helping many skin troubles, being a necessary electrolyte essential for all cell functions, from neural pathways acting in neuromuscular transmission, to being an important cofactor in cell metabolism, required for lipid/fat metabolism, thiamine utilization and enzyme reactions.Magnesium works with many of the B vitamins and is a necessary part of amino acid synthesis and general functioning as well. Perhaps its most important function is its involvement in Phosphate-transfer reaction and changes in energy states within the body. |
| Magnesia phosphorica (magnesium phosphoricum, magn |
Used as a Homeopathic medicine (tissue salt). (Homeopathic potencies accredit their strength and efficacy to the electromagnetic signatures of the original substrate; these are scientifically created dilutions and succussions of medicines such that generally not even a molecule of the original substrate or medicine is present in the medicine). As a Homeopathic or used simply as a micro-nutritional, it has demonstrated effectiveness against the following symptomology: "Indicated in tired, exhausted, neurotic subjects when suffering from darting, spasmodic pains which are relieved by pressure and warmth...it should be remembered in chorea, and contractions of single muscles, and cramps such as writer's cramp..." (Blackwood) -"The great antispasmodic remedy...cramping of muscles with radiating pains..neuralgic pains relieved by warmth...especially suited to tired, languid, exhausted subjects...indisposition for mental exertion;" -twitching of eyelids; supraorbital pains worse right side relieved by warmth externally applied; -severe neuralgic pain in ears, worse behind right ear; -toothache better by heat and hot liquids; -hiccough with retching day and night; -enteralgia relieved by pressure; -ovarian neuralgia; -intercostal neuralgia; -nervous spasmodic palpitation; constricting pain around heart; -involuntary shaking of hands; chorea; twitchings; tetanic spasms; darting pains in limbs; -sciatica, feet very tender; -weakness in arms and hands, fingertips stiff and numb (Boericke) |
| Magnesium Aspartate |
A supplemental form of magnesium critical for energy production and proper nerve function. It is considered the "anti-stress" mineral. As a natural tranquilizer it relaxes the skeletal muscles as well as smoothing the muscles of blood vessels. It is essential for metabolic functions in the body. It is important in the production and transfer of energy, in muscle contraction and relaxation, in nerve conduction, in protein synthesis, and in many biochemical reactions as a cofactor to enzymes. Magnesium is also thought to dilate the blood vessels. Deficiency causes sensitiveness to noise, nervousness, irritability, mental depression, confusion, twitching, trembling, apprehension, insomnia, muscle weakness and cramps in the toes, feet, legs or fingers. Feelings of anxiety linked to increased levels of adrenaline can also result from a deficiency in this mineral. |
| Magnesium Gluconate |
A mineral that comes in many forms and abilities to assimilate. The presence of magnesium nutritionally helps metabolize calcium, Vitamin C and carbohydrates; nutritionally promotes healthy teeth, nerves and muscles; and energizes and fights against sadness, stress and unhappiness. Perhaps its most important function is its involvement in Phosphate-transfer reaction and changes in energy states within the body. |
| Ornithine (L-Ornithine) |
Ornithine, or L-Ornithine in its natural form, is an important amino acid known to be a very powerful stimulator of Human Growth Hormone (HGH) by the pituitary gland. Ornithine is thought to nutritionally increase body rates of fat uses and enhances transportation of amino acids to cells. In its biochemical free form, it is also partially involved in the detoxifying of bodily fluids of ammonia in the urea cycle.Like the amino acid arginine, ornithine is found to be nutritionally useful in helping the body promote the growth of muscle and other tissue, strengthening the body's natural defense system and possibly nutritionally increasing the motility in human sperm, although this remains unproven. Interestingly, low ornithine levels in blood plasma have been found in individuals with growth defects. Ornithine and arginine are rapidly inter-converted within the normally functioning body, and supplementation for athletes has been found to be of considerable value. |
| Calcarea carbonica (Calcium Carbonate, tincture of |
Used as a Homeopathic or used simply as a micro-nutritional (mineral). (Homeopathic potencies accredit their strength and efficacy to the electromagnetic signatures of the original substrate; these are scientifically created dilutions and succussions of medicines such that generally not even a molecule of the original substrate or medicine is present in the medicine). As a Homeopathic or used simply as a micro-nutritional, it has demonstrated effectiveness against the following symptomology: colds, flu, full pulse with fever, excessive cold, nocturnal sweat, chiefly on the chest, inflammation of nose, swelling, ulcerated and scabby nostrils, aching eyes, burning eyes, sore throat, constricted, accumulation of mucus in the mouth, pains in the abdomen, tension and swelling, inflation, constipation, too frequent emission of urine, obstructed breathing, wheezing respiration, palpitation of the heart with anxieties and trembling movements, contractions in the region of the heart, cramping in the upper and lower limbs, muscle spasms and unrest. (Clarke) |
| Calcium (Calcium Carbonate, Calcium Bicarbonate, C |
This is a mineral, Element No 20, At. Wt. 40, that is a necessary and quintessential elemental constituent of bone and teeth, helping the body to build and strengthen bones and teeth, calm tense nerves, promotes sleepiness, helps the body regulate heart beat and muscle contractions, as it is intricately involved in the buffering of electrical impulses occurring in the nerves throughout the body and brain. It is a vital mineral that helps the body clear blemished skin and causes lifeless, tired-looking skin to be recharged as well. |
| OptiZinc (zincmonomethione) |
An antioxidant made by the InterHealth Co. in California, the same company that makes ChromeMate & ActiVin. OptiZinc has demonstrated synergistic effects with other antioxidants, far surpassing the abilities of common vitamin antioxidants such as vitamin A, E, and C. The antioxidant power of OptiZinc has been confirmed in multiple university-based studies. It also helps glutathione reserves in the body, as well as possibly reduce homocysteine levels because of its molecular configuration. |
| Boron (Boron Chelate, Boron Amino Acid Chelate, Bo |
A mineral, (Element No. 5, At.Wt. 11) generally mined from borax, having great significance in the ability to retain and add bone tissue. Recently Boron was found to be quintessential to healthy bone structure, its presence being necessary for bone to be protected against calcium leeching as well as to potentiate the regeneration of primal bone material. The US Dept. of Agriculture has demonstrated in 1981 that women especially are in need of this mineral, suggesting that Boron, in combination with a good diet and exercise, could be a good preventative against osteoporosis (a disease of bone degeneration). It has been found that as little as 3 mg. of Boron per day is optimum for healthy bones and teeth. This recommendation has been made to the FDA but nothing since has been done about it. |
| Mixed Glycosaminoglycans |
The chemically accepted and preferred name for mucopolysaccharides is glycosaminoglycans. These are proteins attached to unbranched chain of polysaccacharides (generally composed of manose, glucose, sucrose and simple sugars molecules and often some amino sugars or peptides which replace the OH groups of deoxy sugars) of alternating uronic acid and hexosamine residues. The extracellular spaces, particularly those of connective tissues such as cartilage, tendon, skin, and blood vessel walls, consist of collagen and elastin fibers embedded in a gel-like matrix known as ground substance. Ground substance is composed largely of glycosaminoglycans and Glycoproteins; known together as Proteoglycans as these two substances aggregate together covalently and noncovalently. It is critically important that glycosaminoglycans and glycoproteins (such as NAG, or N-Acetylglycosamine, and NAM, or N-Acetylmuramic Acid) are used together in supplement form, as often glycosaminoglycans by themselves are less powerful. By themselves, solutions of glycosaminoglycans have a slimy mucus-like consistency that results from their high viscosity and elasticity. (1)Glycosaminoglycans are composed of an essential family of chemical substances, including Hyaluronic Acid, Glucosamine, Chondroitin-4-sulfate, Chondroitin-6-sulphate, Dermatan Sulfate, Keratan Sulfate and a sulfated glycosaminoglycan called Heparin. Chondroitan sulphate is a constituent of acidic glycosaminoglycans found in arterial walls. These substances have anti-coagulant, anti-lipemic and anti-thrombogenic properties in addtion to facilitating wound healing. They appear to form complexes with VLDL and LDL lipoproteins. (2) Glycoproteins are covalently associated with carbohydrates, are present in all forms of lives and have functions that span the entire spectrum of protein activities, including those of enzymes, transport proteins, cell-to-cell recognition and receptor capabilities, hormones, and structural proteins.NAG is a key amino sugar necessary for the construction of connective tissue. NAG is generally produced in the body by the combination of glucose with glutamine to form glucosamine through the enzymatic action of the enzyme glucosamine synthetase. The molecule is then acetylated to form N-acetyl-glucosamine. NAG is a component of glycosaminoglyccans and glycoproteins which are integral parts of cell membranes and cell surface proteins, as well as the extracellular membranes and interstitial tissues which hold cells together. Several diseases, including diabetes mellitus and cystic fibroisis involve abnormalities in proteglycns and glycosaminoglycans. Mucosal cells lining the digestive tract turnover at a very high rate, the whole layer renewing in 3-4 days. This renewal rate requires the high quantities of NAG to replace the cells and to renew the interstitial tissue. Inflammatory bowel diseases require the body to produce even higher quantities of NAG, which may be better provided by supplementation. NAG is critical in rebuilding tissue after injury. Under circumstances of poor diet, deficiencies, disease, injury or aging, the body may not be able to keep up with NAG tissue requirements.Cartilage consists largely of a meshwork of collagen fibrils that is filled in by Proteglycans whose chondroitin sulfate and core protein components specifically interact with the collagen. The tensile strength of cartilage and other connective tissues is a consequence of their collagen content. Cartilage's characteristic resilience, however, results from its high Proteoglycan content (Glycosaminoglycans plus Glycoproteins/core proteins), and thus the importance of avoiding supplementation with Glycosaminoglycans alone. Proteoglycans modulate the effects of protein growth factors, such as basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF), which cause specific target cells to grow and differentiate. Apparently, the abundant and ubiquitous distribution of Proteoglycans limits the action of these growth factors on their target cells to short distances from the cells secreting the growth factors, greatly influencing the formation and maintenance of tissue architecture, and thus the cartilage that is regenerated within joints, etc. Moreover, Proteoglycans, made from polyanionic Keratan Sulfate and Chondroitin Sulfate (Glycosaminoglycans which are capable of holding an electromagnetic charge), cause cartilage to become highly hydrated, or infused with water. In fact, the application of pressure on cartilage squeezes water away from charged regions until charge-charge repulsions prevent further compression. When the pressure is released, the water returns into the cartilage. In fact, the cartilage in the joints, which lack blood vessels, is nourished by this flow of liquid brought solely by body movements. This explains why long periods of inactivity cause joint cartilage to remain unnourished, allowing it to degrade, becoming thin and fragile, and clearly demonstrates once again why both Glycosaminoglycans plus Glycoproteins, or Proteoglycans, such only be used.Probably the best source of all balanced natural Proteoglycans (Glycosaminoglycans and Glycoproteins) can be found in V.xa products which consists in the New Zealand sea muscle, Perna Canaliculous, and to a lesser extent shark cartilage, where the entire family of Proteoglycans (Glycosaminoglycans plus Glycoproteins/core proteins) can be found together. Aloe vera is also a plant source for Glycosaminoglycans, but these appear to be slightly more unstable, and there are fewer Glycoproteins/core proteins available than in animal/fish sources. There is growing evidence that Proteoglycans (Glycosaminoglycans plus Glycoproteins/core proteins) are critically essential for many living cells, necessary for cellular regeneration and having neurotransmitter-like properties, communicating inter- and intracellularly with biochemical pathways and growth strategies. The varying size and chaining possibilities determine their healing and immuno-stimulating properties |

| Tanacetum parthenium (Feverfew) |
This herb still retains its name from a legend in ancient Greece which told of a plant that saved the life of a person who fell off the Parthenon, the famous temple in Athens. Since ancient times it has been recommended by herbalists for head problems and PMS difficulties, and is especially popular in England as a remedy against severe headaches and migraines, as well as useful for those experiencing joint pain and discomfort. With regular use, the number of migraine headaches and the severity are reduced almost instantly.Stress is the most common precipitating cause of migraines. An attack begins when smaller arteries near the center of the brain constrict, or those located near the midbrain section begin to cascade upwards into the higher brain centers themselves, reducing the flow of blood. Apparently, the brain thinks that the diminished flow is life-threatening and quickly dilates the larger arteries near the surface of the brain, or the cerebral cortex. The reaction is excessive and a migraine headache usually begins.Feverfew's active ingredients (specifically the parthenolides, a sesquiterpene lactone) counteract the substances which permit excessive blood flow (prostaglandins) which enlarges the arteries. Feverfew is thought to inhibit some of the effects of prostaglandins on smooth muscle, allowing a stabilization of cerebral blood vessels, as well as blocking the actions of certain neurohumoral transmitters and autocoids such as acetylcholine, noradrenaline and bradykinin on smooth muscle as well. Yet double blind studies now confirm that Feverfew's medicinal properties are not solely attributable to parthenolides. Recent research (Lancet, Volume 350, November 1997, p.1598-1599) has shown that Feverfew also contains substantial amounts of Melatonin (a potent hormone of the central nervous system) both in the fresh and dried leaves. Research also has demonstrated that lower circulating Melatonin levels were found in those suffering from chronic migraine headaches (in the article entitled "Nocturnal melatonin excretion is decreased in patients with migraine without aura attacks associated with menses," Claustrat et al., Cephalalgia, 1995; 15, 136-39). Some caution should be used in the use of Melatonin, however. Because of high Melatonin levels, long term use without the proper formula can induce sensitivity to sunlight. V.xa formulas compensate for this fact and thus may be taken over the long term without difficulty.Recent research has indeed revealed the antiinflammatory properties of Feverfew. One such study (Heptinstall, et al., 1985) reported that Feverfew had a more pronounced effect than that "obtained with very high concentrations of nonsteroidal antiinflammatory agents." This is an herb which has for many years escaped the attention of many, but because of recent scientific interest is now being taken much more seriously. |
| White Willow Bark (White Willow Bark Extract, Sali |
This particular bark has historically been used as an herb to relieve discomfort. Lately, it has been found to contain the natural pharmaceutically active compound salicin, or salicylic acid, the chemical forerunner of acetylsalicylic acid (modern aspirin) from which it is derived. Like its modern derivative aspirin, the natural chemical salicin from White Willow Bark is known to complement the body's ability to relieve discomfort, but without the possible complications and/or discomfort caused by aspirin. Thus where aspirin cannot be used, white willow bark has generally demonstrated effectiveness without aspirin-like side effects. Modern research has shown that its mechanism of actions is probably effected by inhibiting the neural transfer of pain signals. Its pharmacological action is antipyretic, antiphlogistic and analgesic. It is often used for diseases accompanied by fever, rheumatic ailments, headaches. Salicylic acid is known to block certain prostaglandin production, binding with them so as to inhibit adenosine, Prostaglandin E2 and phosphodiesterase that interfere with thermogenic action at beta-3 cell receptor sites. It can, therefore, also effectively increases or potentiate beta-3 cell receptor sites, allowing certain thermogenic amines (such as those found in Advantra-Z) to elicit thermogenic responses from brown fat cells (brown adipose tissue). Thus when used in combination with these amines and the theophyllines and related compounds found in green tea, weight loss, via thermogenesis, can occur! |
| Yucca |
This plant has a rich history on the South Western United States, primarily amongst the American Indians. Extracts from Yucca make excellent shampoos and soaps, its roots having a high content of natural saponins (natural hormonal materials) and lathers easily, holding moisture close to the skin. But Yucca has great medicinal value as well. Yucca has demonstrated an ability to encourage helpful and friendly intestinal bacteria while discouraging the formation of "bad" or foreign bacterial colonies. By stimulating friendly flora and inhibiting others, nutritional entities are more quickly and efficiently absorbed while decreasing the amount of toxins available for absorption. The saponins (similar to the steroid cortisone but much safer) in Yucca also provide a healthy alkalinity to an otherwise acid-ridden system for toxic impurities. Yucca is thus thought to be effective as an agent against arthritis and rheumatism, diminishing the amount of toxins which may build up around and within the joints, diminishing inflammation effectively. Yucca is also thought to be effective in conditions such as urethritis and prostatitis. |
| Homeopathics: |
Homeopathics are trace entities which can be of any substance and which can be diluted and succussed over several generations. These are scientifically created dilutions and succussions of the original substance such that generally not even a molecule of the original substrate is present in the final dilution. This process creates a Homeopathic potency which accredit their strength and efficacy to the electromagnetic signatures of the original substrate, magnified by the succession of dilution and succussions. Specific electromagnetic signatures exist weakly for each and all organic and inorganic materials. When organic and inorganic materials are processed through continuous dilutions and succussions, their electromagnetic signatures appear to grow more strongly. These amplified electromagnetic signatures can positively impact the body's cells, most of which have electromagnetic receptors on their external cell walls capable of picking up such signatures, just as a radio receiver picks up radio transmissions. Often the electromagnetic signature of a substance can impart cellular instructions to living cells, prompting renewed cellular integrity, repair, regeneration, protein synthesis, communication with other cells, and the flushing of toxins. Although the activity of homeopathics is still debated, it is clear that their activity is deeper than simple chemistry, but involves the electrochemical properties and physics of organic and inorganic substances instead, a "switching mechanism" which is more fundamental than, but causative to, biochemical reactions. Current research appears to be in the process of confirming these theoretical constructs. |

(Homeopathic potencies accredit their strength and efficacy to the electromagnetic signatures of the original substrate; these are scientifically created dilutions and succussions of medicines such that generally not even a molecule of the original substrate or medicine is present in the medicine). As a Homeopathic or used simply as a micro-nutritional, it has demonstrated effectiveness against the following symptomology: "Suitable to rheumatism of joints and of muscular tissue itself: muscles sore and swollen, joints violently inflamed, red, swollen shiny and very hot; pains sharp, stitching or cutting, aggravated from slightest motion; touch and pressure also aggravate." (Dewey). As a Homeopathic or used simply as a micro-nutritional, it has also demonstrated effectiveness against the following digestive symptomology: pains soon after eating food: it seems to lie like a stone in the stomach, pains are sharp and cutting and extend to shoulders and back; -mouth is rather dry and a bitter taste is present; -constipation and frontal headaches are accompaniments (Dewey) -"Important in diseases of the digestive organs; in gastralgia when there is a sensation of weight in stomach as from a stone; this may appear when stomach is empty or when it is full; it is frequently the result of having partaken of indigestible foods, beer, brandy, or strong coffee; there may be flatulence, and vomiting of sour, acrid mucous; the epigastrium is extremely sensitive to pressure and constipation is present." (Blackwood) -foods which disagree/ill effects of: cabbage-warm or hot drinks meat (Boericke).Especially beneficial when used at certain Homeopathic potencies for the eyes: first remedy to be thought of in rheumatic iritis-sharp shooting pain through eye into head worse motion ameliorated by pressure; or steady aching in posterior part of eye extending, through to the occiput, worse night and motion; -it has checked glaucoma; -has proven valuable in serous iridochoroiditis and in ciliary neuralgia (Moffat). |
| Cimicifuga racemosa (Black Cohosh, Black Snake Roo |
Pharmacological studies have demonstrated that Black Cohosh contains substances which exhibit endocrine activity which is estrogen-like in character, causing selective reduction of the serum concentration of pituitary luteinizing hormone (LH) and/or able to bind to estrogen receptors. Thus estrogen-like action, luteinizing hormone suppression and a binding to estrogen receptors has been noted in the treatment of neurovegetative and psychic problems associated with the menopause and easing the symptoms of post-menopause, including depressed moods, hot and cold flashes with associated sweating, dryness of vagina, headaches, irregular periods, mood swings, nervousness and sleeping difficulties.Black cohosh is used widely in Europe and Great Britain as a safe alternative to synthetic hormone therapy and hormone replacement therapy. Recently, plant-based estrogen complexes (called phyto-estrogens), like those found in Black Cohosh, have been found to be completely safe and carry with it the added benefit of being anticarcinogenic (keep cells from becoming cancerous) and exhibit antiangiogenetic (tumor reducing) activities. Moreover, it was found that the use of phyto-estrogens are correlated with decreased rates of breast cancer over and above the general population. Yet interestingly, it was also found that non-plant based HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) is linked to substantial increases in the risk for breast cancer, and the risk increases the longer non-plant based HRT is used. Black Cohosh is indicated for menopausal disorder, premenstrual complaints, dysmenorrhoea, uterine spasm, as well as muscular rheumatism and rheumatoid arthritis, and interestingly, tinnitus.Used as a Homeopathic or used simply as a micro-nutritional (botanical). (Homeopathic potencies accredit their strength and efficacy to the electromagnetic signatures of the original substrate; these are scientifically created dilutions and succussions of medicines such that generally not even a molecule of the original substrate or medicine is present in the medicine). As a Homeopathic or used simply as a micro-nutritional, it has demonstrated effectiveness against the following symptomology: "Great aching in the muscles, especially the 'belly' of the muscles; rheumatism in the muscles worse at night and in wet and windy weather." (Dewey) full of cares, depressed, sighing without stop; -everything is sad; hopeless mood, begins to cry; -indecision, internal anxiety, hopeless of life; completely hopeless and anxious, fears that he will never recoup his health; -is afraid of everything, fear of death, depression up to hopelessness of life (Julian) -great depression with dream of impending evil; -incessant talking; sensation of a cloud enveloping her (Boericke) -in all mental symptoms there is a want (lack) of natural coherence; -gloom, as if a black pall over everything; suicidal; miserable, dejected feeling; feels grieved and troubled, with sighing; -mental effects of fright, disappointed love, business failures (Clarke)Also effective as a Homeopathic or used simply as a micro-nutritional for PMS symptoms such as the following: -great aggravation of all symptoms during the premenstrual period (Julian) -"The mental condition of gloom and dejection are quite sure to be present...there is an irritable weakness and a mental symptom of a sensation as if she would go crazy, and with the uterine symptoms there is much headache...the menstruation is premature and profuse, attended with wandering pains in the back...it is one of our good remedies in dysmenorrhea especially with an irritable, sensitive, bruised uterus and pains flying across the hypogastrium from side to side...the uterus is engorged and pelvic organs are very sensitive with a sensation of weight in the uterus...in the ovaries sharp pains which shoot up the sides and are accompanied with a bearing-down sensation ...facial blemishes, acne, rough skin at the menstrual periods cause mental unrest, nervousness: Cimicifuga is the remedy for both conditions" (Dewey). As a Homeopathic or used simply as a micro-nutritional, it has also demonstrated effectiveness against the following depressive symptomology: full of cares, depressed, sighing without stop; -everything is sad; hopeless mood, begins to cry; -indecision, internal anxiety, hopeless of life; completely hopeless and anxious, fears that he will never recoup his health; -is afraid of everything, fear of death, depression up to hopelessness of life (Julian) -great depression with dream of impending evil; -incessant talking; sensation of a cloud enveloping her (Boericke) -in all mental symptoms there is a want (lack) of natural coherence; -gloom, as if a black pall over everything; suicidal; miserable, dejected feeling; feels grieved and troubled, with sighing; -mental effects of fright, disappointed love, business failures (Clarke). |

| B-9 (Vitamin B9, Vit.B9, Folic Acid, Folacin, Fala |
This is a vitamin necessary to promote normal red blood cell formation. It is thought to be an important catalyst aiding in the maintenance of the nervous system, the health of the intestinal tract and genitals and related organs, white blood cells, and normal patterns of growth. In 1981, it was conclusively demonstrated that folic acid supplementation could prevent more than half of the cases of spina-bifida and other neural tube defects. The FDA has finally announced that folic acid is essential to the diet and especially necessary within the diets of pregnant women, now recommending 400 mcg per day to reduce the risk of neural tube deficits and birth disorders. Recently, research has demonstrated that elevated levels of folic acid (800 mcg: twice that of the USRDI's) helps prevent heart attacks by reducing homocysteine levels. However, in yet other studies, lower levels
