Fluke Parasites The Intestinal Human Parasite

The fluke parasite is a parasitic flatworm that can cause significant health conditions in the lungs and digestive tract of the human host. This fluke or trematode refers to the suckers on the outside of its body that are used to deplete valuable nutrients from their host.  These parasitic organisms initially use up the nutrients from the respiratory tract and the digestive tract causing serious health problems and then migrate to the rest of the body.

Humans can contract the fluke parasite by eating uncooked fish, vegetables, fruits and meat which has been exposed to fluke infested water.  The fluke flatworm will usually set up shop in the small intestine, grow in numbers and then make their way to the rest of the body via the blood stream and lymphatic system.  Other types of these parasites can infect the liver and ingest all of the bile, when this happens the human host will not be able to digest and absorb fat in the diet.

These flatworms infect 300 million people every year mostly in Asia but has recently increased incidence in the United States.  The most common types of flukes are:

  1. Intestinal Fluke- this flatworm lives in the small intestine causing numerous digestive issues.
  2. Liver Fluke- this species actually eats your liver and blood causing problems with fat metabolism and systemic inflammation.
  3. Blood Fluke- causes infection in the blood that can cause fever and also can spread throughout the bloodstream to affect other organs and glands of the body.
  4. Lung Fluke- causes irritation and inflammation in the upper respiratory tract; symptoms closely mimic that of a bacterial or viral infection.

The adult liver fluke can produce over 25000 eggs per day.  Chronic infection by this flatworm can lead to the liver disease fascioliasis.  Symptoms of this fluke parasite include:

  1. Vomiting
  2. Stomach aches
  3. Fever
  4. Heightened immune response by increasing white blood cells
  5. Diarrhea
  6. Muscle aches and pains
  7. Swelling
  8. Intestinal blockage

Treatment for the fluke parasite can be either through the medical or the natural route.  The most common antiparasitic drug used is praziquantel; this seems to work well however patients complain about the side effects of headache, fever, night sweats and fatigue.

There are natural parasite cleansing kits out there that are very useful, inexpensive and do not have near the side effects.  These alternative cleanses are able to help eliminate these free loaders and also make their extraction easy by supporting the liver, the small intestine and the bowels.

Some of the natural herbs and foods that create an unfriendly environment for the parasites to live are garlic, wormwood, clove oil, and black walnut hulls.  Also a good preventative measure is pour boiling water over vegetables and nuts to ensure there are no living parasites.  When going through detoxification of the fluke parasite one should make sure to follow at parasite cleansing diet which makes sure you are starving these parasites and not feeding them.  People should be staying away from refined sugars and carbohydrates and focusing more on nutrient rich foods like green vegetables, good fats and high quality proteins.

Most people who are infected by these flatworms have no idea they have it and they could be spreading it to their kids, family and community.  There is no reliable medical test that can identify all of the different parasites so if you have chronic health problems with digestion, colds and flu’s it may be a good idea to consider a parasite cleanse.  This is an epidemic problem and it is affecting our population’s health severely, more awareness and education needs to be done to help these over 300 million people worldwide.
